4worldlovers: The City of Escondido operates its Aquatics programs out of two pool facilities conveniently located through out the City. Each facility is home to our Open Swim and Learn to Swim programs.

All students will now be required to attend a skill assessment before they can enroll in classes for Dolphin, Starfish, Seahorse, and Seal levels. The Instructor will then assign the student a skill on their Amilia account that will allow the student to enroll in classes at the appropriate level.

Assessments will be held Saturdays 9-11:45 a.m. 4/8-7/29, and M-Th 9 a.m.-1:45 p.m. 6/5-6/29, and 7/10-8/3 at Washington Park pool only.

Students will be evaluated on the last class of each session, and will only be allowed to move on to the next level if the critical benchmarks are met.

Due to high demand, weekday classes will open up in 2 week increments each Friday. All summer Saturday sessions will open on 4/3. To see specific registration dates see pages 14-15.

To eliminate distractions and create a safety zone for certified lifeguards to patrol, families are not permitted on deck

Life jackets are not permitted. It creates a false sense of security for participants when not wearing one and hinders swim skills development that are being taught.

All participants should use the restroom and shower prior to entering the pool.

An opportunity will be given before class begins to do so.

A swim diaper must be worn for youth participants of Me & My Shadow classes.

The City of Escondido has aligned itself with Starfish Aquatics Institute. The Starfish Swimming curriculum is designed for students ages 6-months to adult. Benchmarks are established at each stage in the program that combine both swimming and safety skills. Students participate in experiential learning activities that allow them to explore the water in a creative and comfortable environment. Correct swimming techniques are taught from the very beginning, providing an easy transition to swim team. 4worldlovers: Please review and follow these rules to help ensure your safety and wellbeing All aquatics personnel may use their discretion to apply any additional safety regulations and if a person is unable to comply with our set rules and regulations, and are creating an unsafe environment to the staff, public, or to yourself, you will be asked to leave the premises. By signing our daily waiver this includes but is not limited to the following.

1. Admission to the pool: Is not advised and may be refused to all who: - Refuse to comply with our rules and regulations - Have a(n) infectious disease, Open sores, Lesions or scabs, Excessive sunburn or having any plaster pad, adhesive tape or bandage on their body, or who have experienced diarrhea within the last 14 days.

2. All swimmers: Are highly encouraged to shower before entering the swimming pool.

3. Excreting bodily waste, spitting, spouting water, or blowing nose in the pool is prohibited.

4. Proper Attire: All swimmers must wear appropriate swim attire for a family pool environment. - General clothing is not allowed in the water.

5. No gum, tobacco products or alcohol will be allowed in the pool area.

6. Food/Drinks: Food and Drinks are allowed in the designated seating areas only, no food or drinks should be near the edge of the pool or inside the pool. Absolutely NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED. - No glass containers - All coolers and lunch bags are subject to search.

7. DO NOT: Run on the pool deck - Engage in any foul language as this is a family friendly environment - Dive into the pool | Except from the diving board in the diving well - Engage in dangerous horseplay or sit on anyone's shoulders | “Chicken Fight” - Dunk or throw a person up in the air - Bring Drugs or Tobacco products into the facility

8. Age Requirement: Guests 13 years of age or younger Must : Be accompanied by a responsible adult 18 years or older.

9. Supervision: An adult must actively supervise all children while attending the facility.

10. Life Jackets: Non-swimmers may be asked to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket. - Arm Floaties: Must have a chest/ back strap - Adults may be asked to provide a more active supervision level for weak, misbehaving or non-swimmers.

11. Toys/Swim Gear: No inflatable rafts, toys, baby holders, of any kind - Only Coast Guard approved life jackets are allowed in the water. - No Squirt Guns, Mermaid tails, goggles covering nose or face - Toys and personal property are the responsibility of the owner, must be used in accordance with the original intention, and is permitted at the discretion of pool staff.

12. Swim Test: Must swim about 25ys without touching the bottom or side of the pool.
