The Buchmann story began in 1961 when two hard working Swiss immigrants came to California, settling in San Diego with the dreams of becoming American farmers. Max Sr. and Hedy Buchmann dedicated their life to raising their family by creating a sustainable lifestyle, while striving toward their goal of raising chickens to supply quality eggs to San Diego County residents and businesses. The family, including the Buchmann children, worked daily on the farm to grow the best products, which led to the creation of Buchmann Eggs Incorporated.

As the years went on, so did the demand for supply of quality fresh eggs, and the need for more barns and supplies were inevitable. For two decades the farm grew until the business outgrew the land. By the third decade, Max Sr. became the president of the local feed coop and had made many good relationships with other like-minded local farmers that had the same values in fresh grown eggs. In order to stay competitive and diversify the business, it was important to network with responsible farmers to grow Buchmann Eggs Inc.

If there was one thing Max Sr. understood, it was you must adjust for moving times and this was a good time to move into bakery goods and restaurant supplies to gain insurance in the marketplace with eggs. It started with dry goods such as pancake mix, flour, sugar, shortening, and oils. Customers were so happy that they had options from a smaller more personal supplier that was already known for great products and service.

In 1997 Max Sr. and the second-generation Max A. Buchmann Jr. decided it was a good time for his father to enjoy the fruits of his labor and retire. Max Jr. went on to purchase the business and land to continue the legacy. With the help of a great staff and loyal customers, the business was able to bring on more bakery and restaurant supplies to provide top brand products at competitive pricing with outstanding service.

Quality products and exceptional service has always been our main focus and mission for the company to grow and be successful. We are proud to have grown Buchmann Bakery Supply Distribution, now a division of Buchmann Eggs Inc., to offer over 1,200 quality products by reputable partners and vendors. Customer deliveries have expanded through Riverside and Los Angeles, in addition to all of San Diego and Imperial Counties. We still have kept that small town feel with our retail egg store on property and will call office serviced by our friendly staff.
