One summer day in 2017, the city farm was gifted with many bags of walnuts. There were so many I, Birdie made walnut pralines. After the pralines had been consumed, I thought since everyone loved them maybe I'd try making the world-famous pecan pralines.

Her face began to shine with joy and she said, "oh that's so nice." As a little girl, I remember pecans falling into my Grandmother Minnie's yard in Atlanta, Georgia where pecans are plentiful. Voilà! this was the perfect symbol to honor my Mother Juanita who is like a Georgia pecan, i.e., a brown flavorful, good-quality southern nut that stays fresh if kept cool.

When it came to naming the business we chose Arelia, which means gold, golden, gold-colored, and is pronounced awe-rell-lia.
