Bright Kids Montessori Academy opened its doors for operation in July 2010. Over the past four years we have proven to the north El Monte communities that our program strives each year to achieve our standards and goals and objectives set for our children there.

We have received strong support from families over the years and each year the Parent Advisory Committee dedicates itself to volunteering as classroom helpers and assistants, raising funds for school equipment and field trips and helping staff prepare and manage school events.

We have a dedicated group of teachers there who have grown to love the community and believe it is their responsibility to prepare its young preschoolers with a wealth of knowledge, skills and confidence to be successful in the years ahead in grades school and beyond.

Our site supervisor has Montessori training, a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and well over ten years experience in working with preschool aged children in various child development settings. She is resolute in her dedication to preserving the Montessori Method, our mission, goals and objectives for our children and the unique combination of our curriculum, Montessori environment and vision for the children we serve. She is further characterized by her intelligence, kindness, caring and patient attitude and demeanor and willingness to work with families from all walks of life that are interested in enrolling their children in our program.

My name is Berenice Marin, I am the Site Supervisor for Bright Kids Montessori Academy.


From May, 2016 until October, 2018 I worked in the classroom as a Lead Teacher. Effective November, 2018 until present I am now the Site Supervisor, I am in charge of supervising and helping the lead teachers plan and carry out the classroom curriculum, arts and music, and supervising indoor and outdoor activities. I work with children, families and staff to maintain a healthy and safe environment.

I am responsible for managing, developing, administrating and supervision of the center according to the applicable status and regulations under Title 5, Title 22 and all agency policies and standards. I have a complete knowledge and understanding of both Early Childhood Education principles and the Montessori Methods. I currently hold a Supervisor Site Permit, Associate Teacher permit, MAA permit, MA, Referral Supervisor permit and finished LVN school. I am also a full time mom to 3 beautiful children, they are my pride and joy. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Montessori Association, I am looking forward to working with you and your family.

We offer both full-day and part-day Montessori preschool services for both private fee-based and State Preschool (income-qualifying) families. The latter is funded by the California Department of Education and the half-day program services are FREE for ALL qualifying families. STARTING JULY, 2014 THERE IS NO LONGER A FEE FOR THE HALF-DAY STATE PRECHOOL PROGRAM. We also offer Transitional Kindergarten. Call for details. Please refer to our fee schedule for families that do “not” qualify for our subsidized programs.

The full-day program is from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We offer two part-day programs. The A.M. program is from 7:45 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.., and the afternoon program is from 12:15 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. The Montessori Only program is from 7:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please visit the school and pick up a daily schedule of activities and program times from our office.

Our children learn in a beautiful outdoor classroom, that is surrounded by nature in a holistic garden environment, where a child's innate sense of order, concentration and independence unfold under the nurturing guidance of experienced teachers.


Our curriculum builds in conjunction with environmental and cultural studies. Each lessons provides a unique approach to exploring our universe and our planet, using a biome based cosmic curriculum that introduces plants, animals, soil, air, water and sun. The materials demonstrate how each of these parts work and connects to form our universe. In addition to our traditional Montessori materials, we cook weekly cultural meals together in our beautiful outdoor child size kitchen, with everyone working together as a team to prepare a meal, serve each other and collectively enjoy what we have made. These meals are connected with the county we are learning about that month. In addition to this, we start our day with song, yoga movement and the silence game (meditation). We explore science, music, movement, dance, art, gardening and theater, with short plays that are based on what we are learning about in class.
