Great lessons. I’m a beginner, but feel like I’ve progressed a lot in 3 lessons. He focuses on balance and not just your swing which makes sense to me. He also uses a video camera and computer setup with instant playback and slow mo to show you what to fix and what you’re doing right.

Mr. Jeon was introduced by my sister and I am very happy with his coaching. He is very thorough, patient and knowledgable. Most importantly he is full of passion when he’s teaching. He ended up teaching my whole family including my 5yr old niece and she learned to be well behaved and disciplined. I love watching his kids class on Sunday, too.

4worldlovers: Joe has lived in the Pasadena area for most of his life. He learned the game from his father when he was a child, spending many afternoons and weekends on the golf course. He turned professional in 1987 and played professionally for 5 years but found that teaching was what he enjoyed most. Many players in his junior program have gone on to play and earn scholarships to NCAA universities in the PAC12, Big 10, Big West, WAC and Big12 conferences as well as Division II and III colleges around the U.S.A. Before he started teaching golf, Joe’s sports background was baseball, having played and coached at the college level. Music and playing the drums has also been a big part of his life since he was a child. He has been coaching the men and women’s golf team at Occidental College since 2013.

Golf is a life long game and is not learned in a short-term fashion.

I believe anyone can learn to play better golf. Setting and understanding your goals is the first step in developing a better game. My coaching philosophy is based on educating a player on the process of improving their technique and then learning how to play better.

I want my students to forget all of the myths in the swing and to use the natural motion of their bodies.

I want them to understand what is supposed to happen in the swing, why, and what the great ball strikers do.
