It’s fall flying weather, and that means ribs followed by cream puffs at Karmen’s German Bakery. Yes, it’s time to visit one of our favorite eating places — Tehachapi. Lunch at Red House BBQ and dessert at Karmen’s. Our current Santa Ana winds should calm by tomorrow and we should be able to get in ahead of next week’s weather.

Let’s not forget to thank the veterans in our group on Saturday.

As you know, the cream puffs sell out early. If you send me an order, I’ll pre purchase them for you so you have one when you show up at the deli to dig into this delicacy and pop two Lipitors to deal with the resulting clogged arteries.

Next week will be a brunch hop to Santa Ynez for an EAA pancake breakfast on the field. TOT for that trip will be 10:00. I’m coordinating with Josh for Harris Ranch/steak sandwiches and Christmas decorations as well. Josh is also looking into a Furnace Creek trip.

It is Veteran’s Day. A day for all of us to acknowledge and thank all the women and men in uniform, and their families, that have made our freedom possible. As we all know, freedom is not free. It comes at the expense of all those good men and women who put on the uniform and are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect our freedom. This Veteran’s Day we all salute those that have and are serving our country. Thank you.

Looks like great fall weather is here. Time to head back to Big Bear for lunch at Thelma’s. Sorry I won’t be able to join the group.

Last Saturday’s flight was smooth and calm. Then the winds picked up and for the next couple of days we enjoyed warm high winds. Now that the winds have died down the clean and clear skies prevail in our Paradise along with beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Over all we all know how lucky we are to be living here in Paradise where we can enjoy our freedom of not having to worry about rockets being fired at us or being without water, food, electricity or fuel.

Since we’re living in Paradise and all that is a world away and it is Friday, then it’s time for us to enjoy and celebrate life with good friends at TGIF dinner. Tonight’s TGIF dinner will be at regular time of 7:00 pm at Mario’s Pizza at 4507 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach. 949.722.7151. They are at the corner of PCH and Balboa Blvd. There’s no corkage fee so bring your favorite bottle and join us for another dinner with good friends.
