4worldlovers: Centennial Farm is a three-acre working farm at OC Fair & Event Center

Created to educate youth about agriculture and its importance to daily life. Centennial Farm is home to fruit and vegetable gardens, livestock, and the Millennium Barn. Two youth educational tour programs are offered – Discovery Days and Junior Farmer Tours – as well as year-round daily hours so the public can visit the farm.

Admission is free. Reservations are not required. Masks are strongly recommended inside.

Farmer Kenny was in the flower field at Hana Field in Costa Mesa all day last Sunday and said there are still lots of beautiful sunflowers and Zinnias available to pick…BUT…you might have to walk around a little more to find them. So, we decided to open up for one more weekend, so these gorgeous flowers don’t go to waste!

After this weekend, Hana Field in Costa Mesa will be closed until the Fall.

The farm is located at the corner of Sunflower and Anton. Entry to parking and check-in is located on Anton Blvd.


You must bring your own cutting utensils (Sunflowers have very thick stems, so bring a sharp cutter or serrated knife) and gardening gloves (especially if you have sensitive skin). We do have a limited supply of cutters available for purchase.


All children must remain close to their parent/guardian at all times. The field is large, and with uneven ground. It is easy for children to get lost or injured. Please keep your kids close!

We are a real working farm! The fields can get quite muddy, so closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty are a must.

We also recommend long pants, or long socks, as stinging nettles (weeds) grow all around the farm.


Also, bees love sunflowers, so if you have an allergy, beware that there will be a lot of bees on the premises. In addition to bees, farms do attract a lot of insects. If this is something that might bother you, make sure to use bug spray, or dress accordingly.


Other than trained ADA service dogs, pets are NOT permitted at Hana Field. We wish that were not the case but safety regulations, as well as our insurance policy, do not allow it.


To add our U-Pick Flowers after purchasing general admission, guests MUST purchase a Keepsake Cup, which can hold up to 15 stems.

Dust kills our plants! When driving on farm grounds, please never drive faster than you can walk.

Did you know each one of the giant Mammoth sunflowers can grow up to 12 feet tall and produce up to 2000 seeds?

The big, bright yellow petals attract bees to pollinate the flowers. Once the flowers are pollinated, the plant puts all of its energy into producing seeds. The petals will shrivel up and fall off and the flower’s center will begin to bulge and grow as the seeds develop. The flower head will become so heavy with seeds that it will fall over from the extra weight. Once the flower looks like it is completely dead, and the white “fuzz”is gone from the flower head, revealing the black and white seeds, the flower is ready to harvest.
