Obert & Kaye Einevoll came to California in 1963 from Bagley, Minnesota. Obert went to work for Parker Robb Chevrolet doing body & fender work. Their dream was to have their own business someday. Coming from farming families, hard work is what they knew. In 1968 the opportunity came and they purchased Contra Costa Sludge as well as a contract with Central Contra Costa Sanitary district to manage the sewer sludge. At that time sludge was used as a soil amendment. As time went on sludge was discontinued being used as a soil amendment. The Contra Costa area grew and so did their business. They began handling more products and began mixing their own soil and soil blends. As soil became their predominant product, they changed the business name to Contra Costa Topsoil.

They worked hard and created a success for themselves and their family. Kaye is now retired and happy to be doing her own thing. Obert never did retire completely, nor would he ever have but due to his health he was forced to and passed away in 2017.
