This home was built in 1856 for Don Francisco Galindo and his wife, Maria Dolores Manuela (Pacheco) Galindo, Don Salvio’s second daughter. At that time, it was one of the few Victorian ranch houses in the county. As their oldest son, Juan “John” Galindo and his bride Marina “Sarah” (Amador) Galindo took up residence between 1875 and 1880, the original six-room house was expanded to ten rooms. After Juan and Marina’s eldest child Frederick, and Catherine (Hittman) Galindo were married in 1907, title was transferred to this next generation. Following Mrs. Catherine Galindo’s death in 1966, the home was maintained by her children. After the death of Ms. Ruth Galindo in 1999, the home became the property of the City of Concord. In 2010 ownership was transferred to the Concord Historical Society.

History gives answers only to those who know how to ask questions

The Pittsburg Historical Society was officially recognized as an organization on October 18, 1961. It was formed by members of Pittsburg’s early pioneer families. They were concerned that without the preservation of memorabilia, the history of this area would fade and pass without records.

The first public display was a collection of photographs which were exhibited at Klein’s department store at 5th and Railroad. It was a two-day event which spurred others to donate photos and artifacts. The society grew and soon looked for a permanent location to display the historical treasures they had collected. Welcome to the Crockett Museum, located in the former S&P Railroad Station.


Visitors to the Crockett Museum are often charmed by the unique nature of the displays; many exhibits remain from the original ones created 40 years ago this September. The town of Crockett has been heavily influenced by C&H’s presence since 1906, and that influence is felt in the display of the evolution of sugar products and the sugar industry. Citizens of Crockett have enjoyed a proud connection with their local schools, and trophies and photos abound.

Other exhibits share information about the history of the town/area, businesses, churches, the Carquinez Bridge(s), fraternal/social clubs, and military service members.

One of the more popular artifacts in the Museum is an enormous 468 lb. taxidermied sturgeon (caught on a rod and reel), the likes of which will never be caught again! A complete collection of the Cubelet Press (the house organ of C&H from 1936-1992) is available for research, as well as Crockett Signal and Crockett American from 1908 until 1976 and Crockett Signal magazine 1989 to present day.
