4worldlovers: I grew up in a tiny town in Montana called Havre. There was no music scene, very few people knew about stuff that was not on the radio or MTV (which I didn’t even have because my parents blocked it!). I listened to some random things growing up, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, etc. All mainstream stuff more or less. Once I got into high school (2001) the local college started broadcasting a college radio station, and I finally started to get into what you would call “alternative” music. Bright Eyes, White Stripes, The Strokes, plus they would play totally left-field stuff like Hank Williams, obscure psych like The Castaways, Jim Sullivan – just whatever they wanted. I listened to it day and night, it’s what made me into a big music nerd.

This business was super nice and generous. I had found records in my grandmothers home and they were going to be tossed. I brought them in to see if there was anything of interest. They took the time to go through them and gave me cash even though they didn’t want them lol. I’m not a record person but on character alone, I’d recommend this place.

The gentleman was extremely, knowledgeable, personable and really made us msuic lovers fall in love with his store. Great experience! Plus adding the “who sampled” tags on the albums was a fantastic touch.

Small record store, but they have some gems people will definitely come up on if they enjoy looking thru records. 10/10 recommend stopping by. Unfortunately I live in a different county, but I stopped by here when visiting and absolutely loved it. Bought a couple records and I plan on coming back whenever I’m in town again.

Really glad that Normal Records is in my neighborhood! Great selection of new and quality used records and Caleb is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Very fair pricing and return/exchange policy. If you live in San Diego and especially the East Village I highly recommend Normal Records if you are looking to add to your collection or if you’re just getting started they have some basic audio equipment for low prices that can get you going if you’re looking to get into vinyl as a hobby. Caleb will usually post new arrivals on Instagram and am always pleasantly surprised to find some gems when I go to look through the stacks.

Wanted to sell my120+ records plus CDs. Caleb came to my house, looked over everything, and paid me a very reasonable price. Pleasant guy, quite knowledgeable about the music and artists of the past few decades. If I were buying instead of selling, I would definitely go to Normal Records.
