I have been fully immersed in the great game of golf for the majority of my life. My goal as an instructor is to educate and train each student to unlock their potential. For the last 7 years, I have helped hundreds of individuals grow in their knowledge and ability. I first started my career in teaching at Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego, CA and then became the Director of Instruction at Lake Chabot Golf Course in Oakland, CA. I am excited to find myself back home at Riverwalk Golf Club to help you and many others get better and have more fun on the golf course.

We are all different. We are built differently and we learn differently. My teaching style is one that adapts to you as an individual. If you may have physical limitations or not I will find a way to make the complicated golf swing much easier to understand and execute. My philosophy is one that relates to players of all skill levels. Whether you are just picking up a club for the first time, trying to break 100, or even trying to break par, I have a coaching plan that will get you to where you need to be to achieve success.

More than half a century later and still a passion for the game. I welcome an opportunity to bring your game to the next level.

I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world! I have been playing golf since I was 5 years old. I had very successful amateur and collegiate careers before declaring professional status in 1981. I have enjoyed playing and teaching the game for over 55 years.

My father, Boyd Barrett, taught golf for 50 years. My sister, Sharon Barrett, played on the LPGA Tour for 18 years and was a winner on the Tour. Following her retirement from the LPGA tour, Sharon taught golf for 13 years.

I have been teaching golf for over 38 years. This gives me a firm understanding of what works and doesn’t work for my clients. Golf technology may change over the years; however, the basic fundamentals are key. My two components in a lesson are to keep it simple and make sure the person is having fun.

I don’t know too many golf families that have more than 100 years of experience playing and teaching the game. I welcome an opportunity to make you a better player.
