Under Palomar Health’s current Labor & Delivery visitation guidelines, we are allowing three visitors (all ages) in the room with the laboring mother. If you have chosen to hire one of the certified doulas in our community, they will be able to accompany you as one of your three visitors during labor.

During postpartum care, patients can have up to four visitors between the hours of 8am – 10pm. A patients significant other counts as one visitor. One adult over the age of 18 years old is permitted for overnight stay.

We are constantly watching CDC recommendations and changing practice as needed, so keep in mind that things may change.

Honoring a partner's special role, a Birth Doula can help lower "partner fatigue" during labor and delivery. Partners do not know the natural physiological processes of birth, but they do want to participate, be supportive and included. Birth doulas offer support to both partners, without replacing the partner, but rather enhancing the process, by supporting the couple as they work together through the work of labor.

Postpartum Doulas offer in- home care options to ease a mother's recovery, and support the new parents as they embark on this new journey of parenthood, and adjust to the expansion of their new family.
