4worldlovers: For my family and I, our memories have always included the time we spent with one another in the kitchen and around the dinner table. For us, food and cooking has served more than a necessity, but has allowed for our family to remain united through family recipes, traditions, and quality time with each other. Our dream to pass down and share our family recipes and traditions, has remained constant and strong.

In 2011, fate worked it's wonders when my family and I came across a local restaurant in our neighborhood. We walked into the restaurant, intrigued by it's character, and asked the owner if he would be interested in selling his business. To our surprise, he agreed. In a matter of months, with the help of our family, we took ownership and began to transform the preexisting restaurant into our envisioned Armenian and Mediterranean style restaurant. We created recipes, tested out old family recipes, and promoted our upcoming business. In July of 2011, we were ready to introduce our community to Tonir Cafe. With little-to-no experience in running a restaurant, we were excited, passionate, and eager to serve our communities our family history and recipes.

With the help of our family and our determination to fulfill our lifelong dreams, we have been fortunate enough to bring joy to our local communities with great food and comforting at-home feel. Our excitement and love for good food continues to grow, as our impact through Tonir Cafe has grown.

Our goal at Tonir Cafe, is to create and serve fresh quality Armenian and Mediterranean food using high quality ingredients. We use our family recipes to create fresh salads, side dishes, and desserts. We grill our kabobs on an open charcoal grill, fresh to order, to ensure freshness and quality.

Although Delivery guy made a mistake but he was very polite and kind. Also I love the food!!

Wasn't thrilled w/spinach pie (not cheesy enough), but chicken shwarma was da bomb!

An invitation to attend a coffee ceremony is considered a mark of friendship or respect and is an excellent example of Ethiopian hospitality. Performing the ceremony is almost obligatory in the presence of a visitor, whatever the time of day. Don't be in a hurry though - this special ceremony can take a few hours. In 1985, Rahel opened Messob Restaurant with her mission being to provide authentic ethiopian cuisine to the residents and visitors of Los Angeles. Her dishes have always been crafted from age-old recipes full of delicious flavor. In 2000, however, she left Messob Restaurant to pursue her higher dream.

Rahel opened "Rahel Vegan Cuisine" to fulfill her vision to establish the first ever (and still only) 100% Vegan Ethiopian Restaurant anywhere. She is comitted to preparing the most wholesome, conscious, enjoyable foods without any harm to any animals , to people's health, or to the planet.

Anyway one looks at it , a true vegan diet is the optimal diet for all. That is Rahel's vision and passion ! Vegans can rest assured that their meals are 100% vegan and there has been absolutely no cross-contamination with any non-vegan items. There has never been such items in this facility.
