4worldlovers: For my family and I, our memories have always included the time we spent with one another in the kitchen and around the dinner table. For us, food and cooking has served more than a necessity, but has allowed for our family to remain united through family recipes, traditions, and quality time with each other. Our dream to pass down and share our family recipes and traditions, has remained constant and strong.

In 2011, fate worked it's wonders when my family and I came across a local restaurant in our neighborhood. We walked into the restaurant, intrigued by it's character, and asked the owner if he would be interested in selling his business. To our surprise, he agreed. In a matter of months, with the help of our family, we took ownership and began to transform the preexisting restaurant into our envisioned Armenian and Mediterranean style restaurant. We created recipes, tested out old family recipes, and promoted our upcoming business. In July of 2011, we were ready to introduce our community to Tonir Cafe. With little-to-no experience in running a restaurant, we were excited, passionate, and eager to serve our communities our family history and recipes.

With the help of our family and our determination to fulfill our lifelong dreams, we have been fortunate enough to bring joy to our local communities with great food and comforting at-home feel. Our excitement and love for good food continues to grow, as our impact through Tonir Cafe has grown.

Our goal at Tonir Cafe, is to create and serve fresh quality Armenian and Mediterranean food using high quality ingredients. We use our family recipes to create fresh salads, side dishes, and desserts. We grill our kabobs on an open charcoal grill, fresh to order, to ensure freshness and quality.

- The food is good, I would not say it is 100% authentic, but it comes close. However, the whole experience is ruined by the smell of cigarettes and heavy cologne. The customers are apparently allowed to smoke inside the restaurant. Just the whole atmosphere creates a negative image of the countries the place claims to represent, especially for someone who has not tried Georgian or Armenian cuisine. The service is okay but not as welcoming as desired. In addition, the food is extremally overpriced. One Khinkali costs $3.5.

I traveled quite far away to get this food and I really wish the whole experience was not impaired by more than a few people smoking inside. If I go back to this place, I will probably get a take-out. I really hope the administration takes into consideration all these reviews that point out how smoking damages their image.

- Good service and food, tables are semi-private screened off booths so you can eat in relative privacy (08/2022).

The lamb stew with herbs is delicious, and table is served fresh bread with butter and cream. The Kachapuri on grill is essentially a very long croissant dough with mozzarella cheese inside.

- Unique home cooked food, good portions and very nice staff members. We'll definitely be coming back. Such small gems of LA don't get enough attention !!

- My wife wanted to eat some Georgian food we decided to stop here,, she had the chikmeruli , we also had the imeruli kachapuri, I forgot what I ordered I just remember everything was so delicious, this place is also offering Armenian dishes. We will be back for more. I recommend this place give it a shot

- We ordered food for a party of 40 people from the restaurant. When we came to picking up we decided that we needed more food. Nelly was genuinely kind and helped us bulk up our order. All the ladies working there were fantastic with big smiles!! Great service! Looking forward to ordering from here again!
