4worldlovers: The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich history and heritage. The collections and exhibits reflect our human experiences, institutions and cultures that were shaped by the valley's landscape, environment and early settlers.

The Valley's past is featured in a permanent exhibit that includes artifacts, a historical narrative frieze and pictures of historic buildings. The Museum collects, stores and protects artifacts from the San Ramon Valley. The Museum sponsors revolving exhibits and several guided tours including the Alamo Cemetery and Old Town Danville.

The Pittsburg Historical Society was officially recognized as an organization on October 18, 1961. It was formed by members of Pittsburg’s early pioneer families. They were concerned that without the preservation of memorabilia, the history of this area would fade and pass without records.

The first public display was a collection of photographs which were exhibited at Klein’s department store at 5th and Railroad. It was a two-day event which spurred others to donate photos and artifacts. The society grew and soon looked for a permanent location to display the historical treasures they had collected.
