In Oakland, The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers help residents to combat their addictions, build the work and social skills needed to re-enter the workforce, regain health and stability, and restore families that have been disrupted due to substance abuse.

Through holistic work-therapy, group and individual counseling, life skill development, and spiritual direction, residents learn to abandon substance reliance.

For over 100 years, The Salvation Army's no-fee rehabilitation programs have provided emotional, spiritual and social assistance to those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

We are proud that proceeds from our shop fund Discovery Counseling Center of the San Ramon Valley, a non-profit organization. Since 1973, major support for Discovery Counseling Center comes from The Thrift Station. We are located at the Crossroads of Danville, 486 San Ramon Valley Boulevard. The Thrift Station welcomes quality donations of household items and clothing. All donations are tax-deductible. The Thrift Station is managed by the Friends of Discovery, a volunteer auxiliary. Your participation, donations, and patronage make Discovery Counseling Center's programs in the community possible.

A team of over 110 active volunteers manage sales at the shop, accept donations, sort, price, and merchandise our quality items. We couldn’t do this without our committed, passionate, dependable volunteers. We would love to have you join our volunteer team! Perhaps you are a recent retiree or have just moved to the neighborhood or your schedule is now open and you are looking for some meaningful volunteer hours. Friends of Discovery are asked to volunteer for two shifts per month and two Saturdays per year.

AM shift is 9:45 AM- 12:45 PM and PM shift is 12:30 PM-4:15 PM.
